Community Fun Day

This one was a community fun day at Victoria Park in Tipton hosted by the local council and supported by organisations such as children in need and west midlands police. It was set to begin at midday. We had only just finished DJing at an event in Birmingham a mere 10 hours ago but we felt fresh and ready to go again. The weather forecast was showers and it was an outdoor event, the sky was gray but there was no rain at this point. We pulled into the park and headed towards the stage, it was a good size, around 10 by 7 metres with a roof, this would prove vital later in the day.

We set up towards the back of the stage to allow room for the other performers and entertainers. Besides the music, we were providing the PA (public announcement), this was for the singers, performers and the host this included wireless microphones, clip on lapel microphone and EV speakers. The host initiated proceedings by addressing the crowd and inviting the Mayor along with some other dignitaries onto the stage to say a few words.

After that it was time to introduce the first act. They were a children's dance group from a local school. I forget the name but they were great. More acts followed, there was a south Indian dancer, 2 singers and a children's band. We had to make sure we played each persons song at the right time.

Besides the live entertainment there was a whole range of other activities including fun fair rides, food vendors, huge inflatable assault courses, mocktails, smoothies, ice cream, candy floss and loads more. The rain held off until around 5pm, we were fortunate it was just light showers and people didn't seem to be deterred, or maybe that's because we were under shelter?!

For the last 2 hours we did our thing and played some upbeat family friendly music, both new skool and old skool. We had a few requests to which we duly obliged. The event finished at 6pm but we continued to play for about another hour while everyone packed up and left, in fact we were the last ones to leave haha. Great event, big up to everyone involved.
